Setting group options

Application Wizard lets you decide whether empty groups should appear in menus and whether group menu items should be choosable. To set group options, open the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences and click the Menus tab.

Deselect the Show empty groups checkbox to remove empty groups from the Open, Quit and Switch menus. Note that empty groups must not be hidden to effectively appear in the Open, Quit and Switch menu.

Deselect the Show groups with no running applications checkbox to remove groups that don't contain open applications from the Quit and Switch menus. Note that groups must not be hidden to effectively appear in the Quit and Switch menu.

Select the Choosable group menu items checkbox to make group menu items in the Open, Quit and Switch menus choosable and quickly open, quit, show and hide all the applications belonging to a group by selecting the group's menu item.
