I can't use Quit CSM because it is x-ed off in the Control Strip. What's wrong?

A bug causes Quit CSM 2.1.x to be always inactive in the Control Strip if Extensions Strip is also installed. To solve the problem, download and install Quit CSM 2.2f1.

I can't use Quit CSM because it is x-ed off in Extensions Strip. What's wrong?

Quit CSM 2.1 or later requires Extensions Strip 2.0bx. Upgrade Extensions Strip.

I can't use Quit CSM because it is dimmed. What's wrong?

It isn't possible to run more Quit CSM 2.1 or later modules at one time. Therefore, if you have more copies of Quit CSM 2.1 or later in your Control Strip Modules folder, one copy will effectively run and all other copies will be dimmed.

Similarly, if you have more module hosts installed, Quit CSM 2.1 or later will effectively run from one module host and be dimmed in all other module hosts. If you have more module hosts installed and wish to use Quit CSM from a particular module host, please refer to the Installation chapter in the Quit CSM Documentation file for installation guidelines.

The largest unused memory block displayed by Quit CSM doesn't change as applications are opened or quit. What's wrong?

You are probably running Quit CSM 1.5 or earlier on Mac OS 8.5 or later. Minimum Quit CSM version compatible with Mac OS 8.5 or later is 1.6: download and install Quit CSM 2.2f1 to solve the problem.

The largest unused memory block displayed by Quit CSM doesn't match the value indicated in the About this Computer window. What's wrong?

Quit CSM 2.2 introduces a new procedure for the calculation of the largest unused memory block. Download and install Quit CSM 2.2f1 to solve the problem.

Why do application sizes displayed by Quit CSM sometimes differ from those indicated in the About this Computer window?

The reason for a possible difference in application sizes is due to temporary memory allocation: applications basically allocate memory where they are launched, but may also allocate and release additional memory while they are running (temporary memory). The Finder displays both memory allocated by applications at startup and temporary memory, whereas Quit CSM just displays memory allocated at startup.

Some applications don't appear in the Quit and advanced Quit menus and when they are active all Quit commands are dimmed. What's wrong?

When Control Strip or ACTION GoMac are used as module host, Quit CSM is not able to quit applications which do not support Apple Events (i.e. applications developed before the introduction of System 7.0). Furthermore Quit CSM cannot quit other applications when an application not supporting Apple Events is active.

To overcome this limitation, use Extensions Strip (minimum version required by Quit CSM 2.1 or later is 2.0bx) or WorkStrip as module host.
