You can use the Applications panel to quickly populate groups, add custom applications, disable window restoration for specific applications, and exclude applications from the Quit and Switch menus.
Choose Window > Applications.
The Applications panel lists running applications, recent applications, Dock applications, and applications located in your Applications folders.
Drag the application from the Applications panel to the list.
You can change the depth of a folder in the Applications panel by using the Depth pop-up menu and you can view paths by choosing View > Show Info Tags and moving the pointer over application names. Finally, you can show applications in the Finder by double-clicking them in the Applications panel.
The Applications panel automatically updates running, recent, and Dock applications. To update applications located in your Applications folders, choose Synchronize List from the Action pop-up menu.
