Previews settings

The Previews pane of Application Wizard Settings (macOS 13 or later) or Application Wizard Preferences (macOS 12 or 11) lets you customize if and how the Special menu should preview images, music, movies, and several types of documents.

Description

Show previews in the Special menu

Deselect if you don’t want to show previews when browsing volumes, folders, and documents with the Special menu.

Frame previews

Deselect if you don’t want previews to have a frame and thus reduce their global size.

Show title and author when available

Songs, PDF files, Office documents, and HTML files may have a title and/or author. Deselect if you don’t want to display them in previews.

Show full-size previews for text files

Select if you prefer to display full-page previews instead of actual-size previews for text files.

Full-page previews offer a better overview of the contents of a text file, while actual-size previews provide a better readability and can be scrolled up and down.

Music artwork

Drag the slider to vary the size of Music artwok previews.

Images

Drag the slider to vary the size of image previews.

Movies

Drag the slider to vary the size of movie previews.

PDF files

Drag the slider to vary the size of PDF previews.

Text files

Drag the slider to vary the size of text file previews.

Other files

Drag the slider to vary the size of previews of Office and iWork documents, HTML files, ... .

Restore Default Sizes

Click if you want to return all preview sizes to their original value.

Play music

Deselect to disable automatic audio file previews.

Play movies

Deselect to disable automatic video file previews.

Do not preview files on connected servers

Select to preview files while browsing folders that are located on shared computers and file servers on your network.

Do not preview files with extensions

Select if you want to disable previews just for specific file types. Then enter the extensions of the files you do not want to preview. Separate extensions with a space and do not include the leading dot.
