If you move or rename an application or AppleScript you have added to a group or a file or folder you have added to a menu, you may need to fix its path. Similarly, you may need to fix paths after having imported settings from a backup or after having updated an application.
Invalid items are easy to spot because they appear in gray (if they are in the Trash) or red (if they can’t be found) in the Menus window and Settings window.
Open Application Wizard.
On macOS 13 or later, choose Application Wizard > Settings. On macOS 12 or 11, choose Application Wizard > Preferences. Then click Groups.
Select the application or AppleScript in the list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu at the bottom of the list. Reselect the application or AppleScript and click Fix.
Open Application Wizard.
On macOS 13 or later, choose Application Wizard > Settings. On macOS 12 or 11, choose Application Wizard > Preferences. Then click Applications.
Select the application in the list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu at the bottom of the list. Reselect the application and click Fix.
Open Application Wizard.
Choose Window > Menus and click Open Menu in the sidebar.
Select the folder in the Open Menu list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu in the toolbar. Reselect the folder and click Fix.
Open Application Wizard.
Choose Window > Menus and click Special Menu in the sidebar.
Select the item in the Special Menu list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu in the toolbar. Reselect the item and click Fix.
Open Application Wizard.
Choose Window > Menus and click Quit Menu or Switch Menu in the sidebar.
Select the application in the excluded applications list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu at the bottom of the list. Reselect the application and click Fix.
You can view the path of an invalid item by choosing View > Show Info Tags and moving the pointer over the item’s name in the list.
